On our way to London
|
Today, we left for London early in the morning. We took the dog to the doggy nanny first, telling her that he really does not know how to get along with cats, since she had two of them. But she said that he would be fine and the cats too. They were supposed to be therapy cats, whatever that is, hope it works out for them. Then we hit the Autobahn for Düsseldorf Weeze, the Ryanair Airport. It starts snowing and it's freezing cold outside. The way to the Airport looks pretty messy, since it used to be old military area. Broken and rotten old houses on both sides of the road. But anyways, the flight was a good price. So we met up with Bibi at the airport. She had her parents take her there. Caught a quick coffee, checked in our luggage and on to the plane.
The seats in Ryanair planes are really not any close to comfortable. Thank god we don't have to sit there for long. Two hours later we land safely in London Stansted where we take the train to go downtown. We already bought the tickets online, so everything worked fast. London was a lot warmer than back home in Germany. Around 4-5 °C or so, no snow at all. Too bad we didn't have any working trolley bags left at home, we just sported some regular duffle bags, so we had to carry them all the way across town, but as it turned out Bibi's house was not far from the Underground Station "Bank".
Now it was already one hour later, switching the clock to UK time and time was passing fast. All we really did was eat quickly at the George & Vulture Pub, that was downstairs in the same building. Actually the guys running the pub lived in the same house also. They were all Aussies. Very cool people and easy to get along with. So we ate and unpacked our stuff. Then we got ready for New Years Party. It was a Hawaii Party in a pretty big Pub about 20 Minutes away from the house. We went there with about 10-12 people from the house and friends of them. I really appreciated that noone had to stand in line to get in, since most tickets were sold weeks before it was all straight forward.
The party itself was really cool. Most people including us where dressed up in hawaiian clothes, wearing flowers and other things. One guy had a huge banana on his back, gnarly. So partied until about 3.30. That was it for me. I was tired from a long stressy week and the travelling. Anyways it was worth it and it seemed like we were already there for 2 days. Goodnight...
